Beef  Burrito Recipe

This is a simple Beef Burrito Recipe!  It's a perfect meal for those busy weeknights and it's especially perfect for college students that are tired of takeout meals. You can use any kind of beef for this dish and left over steaks work great. You can season up the beef with salt and pepper, add some chili powder or just purchase packets for burritos that will have tons of other spices in it. This is a great beef burrito recipe where you can experiment with tons of other spices and create your own go-to masterpiece!


If you are a college student and do not have a lot of kitchen supplies, use whatever type of pan or pot you have on hand. 


You will need the following for this Beef Burrito Recipe:


Equipment:

  • Skillet
  • Sauce Pan with a lid or a Rice Cooker
  • Grater

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. Beef, cut into strips
  • 1 lb. Cheddar Cheese (Or use your favorite cheese)
  • 1/2 Cup of White Rice
  • 1-2 Red Hot Chiles
  • Handful of Cilantro
  • 1 Avocado
  • 2 Green Onions
  • 1 Garlic, minced
  • 1 small tomato, diced
  • 1 T. Vegetable Oil
  • Hot Sauce- Optional
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Chili Powder

Serve with a refreshing mango salad!


Switch it up! Use chicken instead of beef!


Preparation:

To prepare this dish, start off by cooking the rice. You can either use a sauce pan with a lid or you can use a rice cooker. If you are using a sauce pan, put in 1/2 cup of rice and add 1 cup of water on high heat. Once it boils, reduce the heat to low and cook until done. Once the rice is cooked, remove it from the stove top and set aside.

While the rice is cooking, pre-heat a skillet and prepare all the ingredients needed for this beef burrito recipe. Dice up the tomatoes, red chiles and green onions, then set aside. With the grater, grate the cheese and place it in a bowl. Then, chop up the cilantro and mince the garlic. Set all these ingredients aside. Next, peel the avocado, discard the seed and place the avocado in a bowl. Smash it up, then set aside. 

Next, season the beef strips with chili powder, salt and pepper on both sides. Once the pan is hot, add a touch of vegetable oil and cook the beef strips until browned. Meanwhile, place the tortillas in the microwave and heat them up for about 1 minute. 


Serve:

Serve this beef burrito hot. First, spread the avocado onto the tortillas. Then, add the cooked seasoned beef strips and the rest of the ingredients. Add hot sauce, if desired. Just make sure to not overstuff the tortilla or the contents will spill out when you are trying to roll it up.
