This green beans and ground beef recipe is actually a Turkish dish I learned from my mom. It is a very easy recipe to make as it requires very little ingredients. This meal is typically served hot during the fall and winter months. There is another version of this Turkish dish, but it is served cold and served as a side dish. The recipe below is the hot version and is served as a main course.
You will need the following for this dish:
Wash and Prepare the green beans. In a large saucepan, add the butter. Once the butter melts, add the onions. Cook until translucent about 8-10 minutes, but do not let it caramelize. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Add the tomato paste and mix. Add salt and pepper (optional) to taste.
Add the beans and depending on your preference, you may want to add a bit more salt. Add enough water to cover the green beans. Make sure you monitor the water level during cooking as it should be like a stew and not a soup. You may need to add water if you notice the water level going down during the cooking process. Cover, and cook for about 25 minutes on medium low or until soft.
