Check out your staple food items. What items need replenishing? Which items do you need to use this week? If you have items that need replenishing, then add them to your grocery list. If you notice a few staple food items that haven't been used in awhile and probably should be consumed soon, then plan to use that item or ingredient in a recipe in the coming week and add the item(s) on your list.
Make sure to incorporate any staple food items into your weekly menu planning. This will help avoid having any expired items on hand.
Look for specials or deals in your local grocery store for items such as beef, chicken, fish, pork, pasta, etc. Based on what's for sale, you can start planning on what type of meals you can make for the week. Make sure you have enough to cover at least 5 nights worth of dinner meals and place all those items on your grocery list.
Money Saving Tip: Only place items from your staple list & planned meals on your grocery list!
Bottom line? It's pretty basic. It's all about organization. Be proactive and get a list going ahead of time. The more you use these methods, the quicker you will get in creating your grocery list!
